Warriors Sweep Regional, Advance to State Championships

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College is headed to the state championships after sweeping its matches at the California Community College Beach Volleyball Southern California ECC Regional on Tuesday afternoon at the ECC Sand Courts.

The Warriors (22-3) are headed to the CCCAA Beach Volleyball Team State Championships for the second time in program history. They finished third overall in state in 2019.

In addition, the Warriors have now won 22 straight matches to extend their program-record streak and wins total in a single season.

In the first match of the day, the Warriors cruised past No. 6 MiraCosta, 4-1 with no match going further than two sets.

The No. 11 Vikings then edged the No. 6 Spartans in the second match of the day, setting up a winner-take-all match between the South Coast Conference rivals.

The Vikings took the lead after winning the No. 2 pairs match but the Warriors quickly took the lead as the No. 1 and No. 3 pairs ended within minutes of each other to give ECC the 2-1 lead.

It would be the No. 4 pairs match that decided it all as the team of Diana Enriquez and Emily Uhrinak overcame a 20-18 deficit in the second set with four straight points to clinch ECC's berth in the state championships.
