Beach Volleyball Nets No. 3 Seed, Hosts No. 6 MiraCosta and No. 11 Long Beach

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College was named the No. 3 seed for the 2022 California Community College Athletics Association Beach Volleyball Southern California Regionals, it was announced Tuesday.

The Warriors will host the opening round of the CCCAA Beach Volleyball SoCal Regionals on Tuesday, May 3 with No. 6 MiraCosta and No. 11 Long Beach coming to compete at the ECC Sand Courts.

The Warriors were the champions of the South Coast Conference, finishing the conference slate undefeated. It was the program's first SCC title in the short history of the conference. They are also currently riding program-record 20-match winning streak.

Joining the Warriors at the ECC Regional, No. 6 MiraCosta enters the postseason with a 10-6 overall record and 8-2 mark in the Pacific Coast Conference. The Spartans finished one game back of PCAC champions San Diego Mesa. The Spartans did defeat the Spartans in their last meeting of the season and enter the regional riding a five-match winning streak.

The Warriors and Spartans have met twice in 2022, splitting each match. The Spartans scored a 3-2 victory in a neutral match at Irvine Valley College back on Feb. 18, which was only the Warriors' second match of the year.

Revenge belonged to ECC on March 11 at the ECC Sand Courts as they scored a 4-1 victory. It marked the halfway mark of the Warriors' current 20-match win streak and featured a completely different lineup than the one the Spartans saw on Feb. 18.

Also making their way to the ECC Regional will be another team the Warriors played twice this season with No. 11 Long Beach. The Vikings finished in second place in the conference behind ECC, marking the end of the Vikings two-year reign at the top of the SCC.

The Warriors ended that reign on April 22 at the ECC Sand Courts, sweeping the Vikings 5-0 for the first time since 2016 when the squads were members of different conferences.

It was also the first time the Warriors have swept a season-series from LBCC since the SCC's inception in 2018.

The Warriors will open the regional at 11 a.m. against MiraCosta. They are then scheduled to face Long Beach at 2 p.m. with MiraCosta and Long Beach facing each other at 12:30 p.m.

The winner of the ECC Regional will advance to the CCCAA State Championships, which will be held on May 12 at Irvine Valley College.
