Bio

Lawanda Cabell-Simmons won the 1984 state championship in the 400 meters. She was also a member of the conference, Southern California and state champion 1600 meters relay team with the Warriors. She currently ranks seventh all-time in ECC history with a time of 24.44 in the 200 meters and second all-time with a time of 53.72 in the 400 meters. She also holds the school record with the 800 meter and 1600 meter relay teams including a national record 3:37.75 in the 1600 meters. 
 
Cabell-Simmons would go on to transfer to the University of Southern California on an athletic scholarship. She was a member of the Trojans’ 800 meter Relay Team in 1985 that ranks No. 2 all-time (1:37.58) and the 1600 meter Relay Team in 1986 that set the school record (3:32.58). She was also named a team captain in 1986. 
 
Cabell-Simmons is currently a teacher at Etiwanda High School.
