Bio

Charlie Brown was a two-time state champion in the pole vault for the Warriors, winning the titles in 1976 and 1977. Brown continues to hold the school record in the event with a mark of 17 feet 4 ¼ inches.
 
Brown transferred to UCLA on track and field scholarship following his time with the Warriors. At UCLA, Brown recorded a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Division I Championships in the pole vault in 1978. The Bruins would finish third overall in the NCAA in 1978 with Brown as a member of the team. Brown also placed third overall in the NCAA Indoor Division I Pole Vault event in 1978.
 
Brown’s daughter, McKenna, and son, Kyle, are both carrying on the Brown tradition of excelling in track and field. McKenna is currently a freshman on the cross country and track teams at Cal. In 2018, she set the San Diego section record in the 3200m with a time of 10:15 while at La Costa Canyon High School.
 
Kyle is following in his father’s footsteps as a pole vaulter on the UCLA Track and Field team after transferring from Yale. Kyle was a two-time state finalist in the pole vault while at La Costa Canyon HS.
 
Charlie Brown currently resides and practices law in Carlsbad.
