Mt. SAC Invitational Results

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College participated in one of the most competitive meets of the season on Friday at the Mount San Antonio Invitational hosted on the campus of Mt. SAC.

Continuing an ongoing theme from this season, Sequoia Gonzales paced the women with yet another second-place finish at the Mt. SAC Invitational, posting a time of 18:29.3. She was the top finisher from Southern California as Andrea Villegas of Hartnell won the even with a time of 18:05.3.

Her time on the course placed her at No. 5 all-time in the ECC record book just behind 1995 state champion Maria Lopez. Gonzales also bested her mother, Sawako Gonzales (Nakamura), and her old time of 18:33 from 1994.

Ami Jacobson once again followed close behind Gonzales with a time of 19:06 for fifth place to help pace the Warriors to a 5th-place overall finish in the 16-team field.

On the men's side, Aaron Cohen once again led the way as he crossed the finish-line of the four-mile course in 13th place with a time of 21:56.5. It helped lead the team to a fourth-place overall finish in the 18-team field with No. 1 Mt. SAC, Hartnell and Glendale the only teams placing ahead of ECC.

The Warriors will now take a week off before competing at the South Coast Conference Championships on Oct. 27.
