Cohen Wins as Cross Country Bags Pair of Team Runner-Up Finishes

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. --- The El Camino College cross country team returned to action after a three-week break and posted its best combined results of the season as both the men and women finished second at the Chaffey Invitational.

On the men's side, the Warriors finished with 44 points overall for second place. San Bernardino Valley, the fourth-ranked team in the state, won the meet with 22 points. Freshman Aaron Cohen led the charge for ECC as he took home his first career victory. He placed first in the 65-runner field with a time of 21:40.6. He posted an impressive final mile to take the lead for good and pace the Warriors. Alan Canales (7th, 22:39.3) and Tyler Bradford (9th, 22:51.5) also posted top-10 finishes while Dominic Marino (12th, 22:59), Ty McCormick (17th, 23:34.1), Navier Quezada (18th, 23:37.9) and Cooper Acuesta (20th, 24:15.3) all placed in the top-20 to round out ECC's top-7 finishers.

For the women, the Warriors scored 38 total points and placed behind San Bernardino Valley with 26 points. Sequioa Gonzales recorded her third runner-up finish of the season for the Warriors as she finished in a time of 18:53.6. She was the top finisher for all attached runners as winner Bea Fleming (18:18.4) ran the race unattached.

Teammate Ami Jacobson secured a third-place overall finish for the Warriors as she crossed the finish line in 19:39. Arianna Hurtado (11th, 22:26.2), Torah Noah (14th, 23:09.8), and Elaine Dugmore (16th, 23:28.1) rounded out the Warriors' top-5 finishers.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday when they head to the Mount San Antonio Invitational, the final meet of the season before the South Coast Conference championships.
