Sequoia Gonzalez Second, El Camino Women X-Country Third at Mt. Sac Invitational

WALNUT, Calif . - The El Camino College Warriors Cross Country team competed at the Mt. Sac Invitational over the weekend against some of the top teams in the state.  

The women came in a very solid third place between Mt. Sac and Glendale and the men came in 10th place at the race.

Hannah Brown of Mt. Sac won the women's race with a time of 18:14. Sequoia Gonzalez ran the 6th fastest time in Warrior history and came in second place with her time of 18:34.  Her mother, Sawako Nakamura is also on the list and ran an 18:33 in 1994. Ami Jacobson came in fifth place with a time of 19:06. Normal #3 runner Rania Gomaa sat out the race for the Warriors.  Haidee Lopez was the third El Camino finisher and came in 30th place with a time of 21:35.  Brianna Johnson came in 34th place with a time of 21:58.  Torah Noah was the fifth Warrior and came in 66th place with a time of 25:03.

Christian Schultz of Cerro Coso dominated the men's 4-mile race with a 19:16, over two minutes before the next finisher.  Stephen Hansen was the top Warrior finisher in the men's race and came in 27th place with a time of 22:56. Dominic Marino was the second finisher and came in 36th place with a time of 23:18.  Josh Carillo came in 97th place with a time of 26:05.  James Neely came in 105th place with a time of 26:48. Daniel Flores was the fifth Warrior finisher in 120th place with a time of 30:51.

The Warriors will next compete at the South Coast Conference Championships on Friday, October 28th.  The meet will be hosted by El Camino College at the Palodes Verdes Cross Country course.  The women's race is set for 9:30 a.m. and the men's race at 10:15 a.m.
