Women's Cross Country Place Third at So Cal Preview
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors Cross County team comepted at the Southern California Preview Invitational held at the Kern County Soccer Park. The course is scheduled to host the CCCAA state qualifiers later in the season. The field included almost all of the Southern California schools except the San Diego area teams.
The ECC women ran their best race of the season after coming in third place (104 points) in a competitive field of 14 teams. Mt. Sac won the women's race with 34 points. The Warriors came out ahead of fellow SCC members Cerritos, Long Beach, LA Harbor, and Pasadena. The Warriors were led by Sequoia Gonzalez who came in 5th place (19:16) overall. Ami Jacobson came in 15th place (20:04), Rania Gomaa 26th place (20:29), Haidee Lopez 51st place (21:55) and Brianna Johnson 58th place (22:28).
The El Camino men came in 21st place in the field of 25 teams. They came out ahead of fellow SCC members East Los Angeles, Pasadena, and LA Harbor. Stephen Hansen led the Warriors with a 93rd place finish and 23:11 time. Dominic Marino (110th, 23:36), James Neely (189th place, 25:43), Josh Carillo (206th place, 26:47) were some of the top finishers for the men's team.
The Warriors will next compete at the Chaffey College Invitational on Saturday, October 8th.
