COMPTON, Calif. -  The El Camino men's and women's cross country teams competed at the South Coast Conference Championships this weekend at Wilson Park.  The women came in fifth place and the men came in third place and both teams have advanced to the Southern California Regional Championships.

The men came in third place out of seven teams with 91 points.  Mt. Sac dominated the men's race and finished in first place with 15 points. Daniel Abdala of the Mounties won the race with a time of 20:24. Anthony Gil was the top El Camino runner and finished in 7th place with a time of 21:38.  Arend Verfaillie came in 9th place with a time of 21:41.  Stephen Hansen came in 16th place with a time of 22:26.  Shota Shimuzu came in 40th place with a time of 24:06.  Yahia Liban rounded out the top five finishers by coming in 44th place with a time of 24:23.

The women came in fifth place out of five teams.  Mt. Sac came in first place with 20 points however Lauren Berg of Cerritos College was the individual race winner with a time of 19:05. Meghan Wright was the top El Camino finisher and came in 24th place with a time of 22:25.  Rania Gaama came in 26th place with a time of 22:34.  Haidee Lopez came in 29th place with a time of 23:24.  Cora Hesson came in 31st place with a time of 23:46.  Mia Hasenmayer was the fifth finisher for the Warriors and came in 45th place with a time of 25:46.

The Warriors will compete at the CCCAA Southern California Regional Championships on Friday November 5th at Mile Square Regional Park in Fountain Valley.
