Men Place Third, Women Place Fifth at Mt. Sac Invitational

El Camino College competed at their fifth and final invitational before the South Coast Conference Championships on Saturday, October 14th at the Mt. Sac Invitational in Walnut, Calif.  Both races featured some of the top ranked north and southern California and Arizona teams.  In the women's race, ECC placed a solid 5th place overall and in the men's race, ECC finished in third place overall. 

Savannah Sehenuk once again led the Warriors with a seventh-place finish clocking in at 19:23.  Deana Takoaka came in at 12th place at 19:43.   Brianna Harmon (20th place; 20:10) and Sarah Simpson (39th place; 21:03) rounded out the top-four finishes for El Camino College.  The host team Mt. Sac won the race overall beating the number one ranked team in Hartnell College.  El Camino College finished in fifth place right behind fellow South Coast Conference squad, Cerritos College. 

Carson Box led the Warriors with a solid 12th place finish clocking in at 21:45.  Michael Yaskowitz (26th place; 22:21), Matt Arruda (32nd place; 22:29), Caleb Ko (35th place; 22:32), and Mijo Sestich (36th place; 22:33) rounded out the top-five finishes for the Warriors.  Once again, the host team Mt. Sac won the race beating Hartnell College.   El Camino College finished in third place overall holding off their fellow South Coast Conference member, Cerrito College. 

The El Camino College Cross Country teams will return right back to Mt. SAC on Friday October 27th for the South Coast Conference Championships which includes teams from Cerritos, East LA, El Camino, LA Harbor, Long Beach, Mt. SAC, and Pasadena.  The race will determine the final conference standings and teams that will advance to the Southern California Regional Championships (where the top 5 automatically qualify).
