Women’s Water Polo Opens Season with Split at L.A. Valley Tournament

VALLEY GLEN, Calif. --- El Camino College opened the 2024 regular season on Saturday with a split at the 11th Annual L.A. Valley Monarchs Mini Tournament.

L.A. VALLEY 15, WARRIORS 8

The Warriors fell behind 10-3 by halftime and could not recover but three players managed to score multiple goals in the first match of the season.

Freshman Savanna Kastigar led the way with two goals and two assists while Yanie Camarador also scored twice with one helper. Rileigh Clark scored twice while Katrina Sanchez and Iyanah Samayoa also scored.

Sanchez and Carleigh Clark each played two quarters with Clark making eight saves.

WARRIORS 13, EAST LOS ANGELES 4

The Warriors led 5-0 after one quarter and never looked back to complete the split on opening day.

Kastigar and Alexis Vasquez led the way with four goals apiece with five other players notching a goal in the victory.

Clark and Sanchez again split time in the cage with Clark gaining the victory after making four saves on seven shot attempts.

The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday with a rematch against the Huskies at ELAC with the match slated to start at 3 p.m.
