Women’s Water Polo Boasts Perfect Week

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College had its best week of the season with three straight victories including a South Coast Conference win at Cerritos.

ECC 13, Cerritos 6

Yani Camarador erupted offensively and led the charge for the Warriors as they secured a conference win over the Falcons in Cerritos.

The Warriors blanked the Falcons in the second quarter to turn a 4-2 first quarter lead into a 7-2 halftime advantage and they never looked back. Camarador scored six times for the Warriors and added three assists. Jackie Calhoun added three goals and one assist while Melissa Cedarholm added a pair of goals in the win. Katrina Sanchez made eight saves.

ECC 12, Crafton Hills 6

Calhoun scored six times for the Warriors as they opened the Crafton Hills Mini Tournament with a win over the hosts. The Warriors once again pitched a shutout in the second period to turn a 2-1 first quarter edge into a multi-goal advantage by halftime. The offense then erupted for six goals in the third period to pull away.

Camarador added three goals while Cedarholm scored twice with Sanchez making eight saves in the win.

ECC 16, Santa Monica 7

Another explosive third quarter propelled the Warriors to a win over the Corsairs and a sweep of the mini tourney.

The Warriors led 8-6 at halftime and then the offense scored seven times in the third while holding the Corsairs to just one to put the match on ice. Camarador scored a career-high eight goals on 10 shots to lead the offense. Calhoun added three goals with Brooke Baudendistel, Sanchez, Cedarholm, Polina Paumfield and Allison Camfield all scored once in the win.

Sanchez played the first half and made two saves to secure the victory and Cedarholm played the second half, making seven saves to secure the win.

The Warriors will return home on Wednesday to host Chaffey at the ECC Aquatics Center.
