Warriors Split Day and Advance to Third Place Game for Women’s Water Polo

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors women's water polo team won their first round of the South Coast Conference Tournament against Chaffey before falling in their semi-final match against Long Beach at night on Friday at the ECC Aquatics Center.

EL CAMINO 14, CHAFFEY COLLEGE 5

The Warriors won their first round matchup 14-5 over Chaffey College.

The El Camino College Warriors led early in the game and took a 9-4 lead into halftime against the Panthers.  The Warriors outscored Chaffey 5-1 in the final frame in the 14-5 victory.

Melissa Brill led the offense with 5 goals and 3 assists.  Jackie Calhoun had four goals.  Brooke Baudendistel had three goals and Eden Brooke scored two goals.  Lux Anne Vargas made 14 saves in goal for the Warriors.

LONG BEACH CITY COLLEGE 24, EL CAMINO COLLEGE 2

The Warriors dropped their semi-final match against Long Beach City College 24-2. 

Nayeli Castro Carillo and Brooke Baudendistel both scored for the Warriors.  It was Nayeli's first goal of the season.

The Warriors will play Cerritos College tomorrow at 12:15 for the third place game.
