TORRANCE, Calif. --- It was a slow start for El Camino College on Wednesday afternoon as the team failed to score in the first quarter.

The Warriors would score eight times in the second quarter and never looked back in a 13-6 South Coast Conference win over visiting Rio Hondo at the ECC Aquatics Center.

Jackie Calhoun scored six times for the Warriors (4-4, 2-0) to lead the charge with five goals coming in the second-quarter explosion. Melissa Brill added four goals with Eden Brooke (2) and Brooke Baudendistel (1) rounding out the scoring for ECC.

The Warriors trailed 1-0 after the first quarter and went nearly two minutes into the second quarter before the flood gates opened. Calhoun and Brill scored 47 seconds apart to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead.

The Roadrunners would tie things up with 4:59 left in the quarter and then the Warriors blitzed the Roadrunners with six of the next seven goals in the period to take an 8-3 lead at halftime. The Warriors would then score the first three goals of the third quarter to take an 11-3 lead and essentially put the match away.

Lux Anne Vargas scored her second victory in net for the Warriors.
