TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College snapped a four-match losing streak with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-9) sweep over visiting L.A. City on Wednesday night at the ECC Gym Complex.

The Warriors attacked at a .320 clip on Wednesday and got a double-double from Scheala Nielsen in the victory.

Nielsen led all players with 10 kills and added 14 digs with three blocks while Yasmin Watanabe recorded a career high with nine kills to go along with three blocks of her own. Madelyn Hancock, Aireon Scott and Zariah Honeycutt each added five kills with Perla Lopez (20) and Erica Griffiths (17) combining for 37 assists.

Alex Cuartiz led the Cubs with six kills and Hanna Gonzalez dished out 11 assists in the loss.

The Warriors never trailed in the opening set and used a 7-0 run to turn a three-point lead into a 17-7 advantage. They would score 15 of the last 17 points in the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The second set was competitive early with teams trading the lead a few times but ECC again used a scoring spurt, this time a 5-0 run, to turn a 7-6 deficit into an 11-7 lead. Cuatriz would net a kill to bring the Cubs within four at 15-11 but a 10-0 run to close out the set put the Warriors up 2-0.

It was the same story in the final frame as the Warriors rallied off 18 of the last 21 points including a 12-0 scoring run to put the match in the bag.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday night as Cerritos visits the ECC Gym Complex. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
