TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College secured a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-20) non-conference victory over visiting Victor Valley on Friday evening at the ECC Gymnasium.
Scheala Nielsen led all players with 17 kills to go along with eight digs and three blocks while Perla Lopez dished out 16 assists and Maddie Gloria led the team with 18 digs in the win.
For the Rams, Alayja Hall and Samantha Ponce each recorded seven kills and Krystal Shurtliff had 14 assists in the loss.
The Warriors snapped their four-match losing streak on Wednesday in rather dominant fashion. They never trailed in the opening set and only trailed 1-0 in the second en route to identical 25-16 wins in each game.
The third set started similarly as the Warriors jumped out to a 6-1 lead. But the Rams mounted a rally, utilizing a 6-0 run to take a 10-8 advantage.
Not to be outdone, the Warriors answered with a 5-0 run of their own for a 13-10 lead but the teams would battle to an 18-18 tie before ECC scored seven of the last nine points to put the match away.
The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday morning for the annual ECC Triangular with Grossmont and College of the Canyons. The Warriors will open the action against the Griffins at 11 a.m. and close out the day against the Cougars at approximately 4 p.m
