Warriors Take the Top Spot after Outlasting Long Beach in Five

Torrance, Calif. - A final big block by sophomores Victoria Curtice and Taylor Brydon secured the 16-14 set five win as the Warriors (12-3, 4-0) outlasted Long Beach (10-3, 3-1) on Friday evening.

Set scores were 16-25, 25-19, 25-27, 25-21, 16-14. The Warriors take over sole possession of first in the conference with the win.

Brydon led the Warriors offensively with 16 kills, adding 16 digs and three blocks, while sophomore Michelle Shimamoto had a team-high 20 digs. At the net, Curtice blocked a match-high six balls.

Freshman Jaylin Motley added 14 kills for the Warriors, while freshmen Aiko Waters and Micah Hammond both tallied 11 each.

The women's volleyball team heads to Chaffey next for a match on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m.
