Van Kanegan Named SCC Coach of the Year as All-Conference Team Announced

El Camino College women's tennis had a number of selections to the 2022 All-South Coast Conference Team including one of the major awards.

Head coach Steve Van Kanegan was named the SCC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year after leading the Warriors to a perfect 17-0 overall record during the season and an 8-0 record in conference play. He led the Warriors to their second straight conference title and 13th overall.

In addition, the Warriors had Julia Jones, Kekoa Vaefa and Danay Holman all named to the All-SCC Singles First Team.

Kayla Brown earned a spot on the All-SCC Singles Second Team.

On the doubles side, South Coast Conference champions Jones and Vaefa were named to the All-SCC Doubles First Team while Holman and Kayla Brown were named to the second team.

The Warriors claimed their first ever state championship in 2022 and finished the year undefeated for the first time in program history.
