Ito Falls to Top Seed at CCCAA State Championships

El Camino College's tennis season officially came to an end Friday as its last two competitors were eliminated Friday on day two of the California Community College Women's Tennis State Championships in Ojai, Calif.

In the singles competition, Ito was the No. 9 seed from Southern California and she scored a win in her first match of the day in the round of 32. Ito scored a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Sarah Kellogg of Modesto, the No. 8 seed from Northern California.

With the win, Ito advanced to the round of 16 where she faced the Southern California No. 1 seed Halla  Alajeely of Irvine Valley. Alajeely had not lost a game in her previous two matches in the tournament and would advance over Ito, although the Warriors No. 1 did eliminated Alajeely's perfect run, winning a game in the second set.

On the doubles side, Ito and teammate Maddie Giese were the No. 4 seed from Southern California and faced off with the No. 4 seed from Northern California in Stephanie Huang and Sophia Moeckelmann of Chabot College.

Ito and Giese would fall in straight sets; 7-6, 6-1 to bring their state championships to an end.
