Women’s Tennis Kicks Off Season Shorthanded At Orange Coast College

COSTA MESA, Calif – El Camino women's tennis kicked off their season with a match versus the Orange Coast College Pirates Tuesday afternoon at OCC.

The Warriors lost 1-8 to the Pirates playing shorthanded without a full team due to finals and eligibility. In singles play, Violet Simpson (2-6, 1-6), Sofia Manouchehry (0-6, 2-6) and Sandy Mesia (0-6, 0-6) all lost to their competitors. Stephanie Kingham won her singles match (6-2, 6-3). In doubles, the teams of Simpson/Kingham (2-8) and Manouchery/Mesia (0-8) lost as well.

Coach Stephen Van Kanegan commented, "We're struggling with winter session finals today and players who aren't yet eligible for both teams."

 

Next match is away on Thursday, February 9^th at Riverside.
