TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a 3-1 South Coast Conference, South Division loss to Cerritos on Tuesday afternoon at the ECC Soccer Field.

The Warriors fell behind early and could never recover as the Falcons scored a big inter-divisional win over ECC. The Falcons are now in second place in the division standings behind Long Beach, two points ahead of the Warriors. The standings will be important for the upcoming SCC Tournament to be held at ECC starting Nov. 8.

On Tuesday, the Warriors fell behind in the 25th minute as a back pass by the Warriors was mishandled and Jessica Arroyo pounced on the turnover and beat keeper Nevaeh Johnson to the far post on a breakaway to make it 1-0 Falcons.

It became 2-0 in the 40th minute after a seemingly harmless pass high into the air by Ariana Rivera hit the crossbar and bounced away from a leaping Johnson and right onto the foot of Sariah Sanchez, who smacked it into the net for the goal.

The Warriors would trim the deficit to one after Ruby Colcol headed the ball into the back of the net off a corner kick by Ashley Ruiz, but ECC would get no closer as the Falcons added insurance in the 61st minute.

The Warriors will hit the road for their next match on Friday as they take on Rio Hondo.
