TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a 2-0 non-conference loss to visiting Ventura on Friday night at Murdock Stadium.
The Warriors could not find the back of the net after firing 11 shots including six on target on Friday night. Jordan Stemberga made nine saves on the night including six in the second half but it was not enough as the Pirates got two goals past the Warriors freshman keeper.
The Pirates opened the scoring in the 14th minute as they capitalized on a corner kick. Jazzy Moreno crossed the ball perfectly into the middle of the box and Leslie Torres hammered a header toward the far post past Stemberga for a 1-0 lead.
It stayed that way until the second half when a turnover 20 yards away from the net proved costly for the Warriors with Yaraby Herrera capitalizing and curling a over a diving Stemberga for a 2-0 advantage and that's the way it would stay.
The Warriors will return to action on Tuesday afternoon as San Joaquin Delta visits the ECC Soccer Field for the first time ever. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
