Warriors Dominate San Diego City as Sibley Nets Another Hat Trick

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College erupted in the second half to secure a 6-1 non-conference victory over visiting San Diego City on Tuesday afternoon at the ECC Soccer Field.

Sophomore Allison Sibley recorded her second consecutive hat trick, scoring the first three goals for the Warriors. Claire Mahon added a goal and an assist while Ashley Ruiz and Ashly Marin also scored to cap the scoring for the Warriors (4-0).

The teams were tied 1-1 at the half after the Knights (0-2-0) tied things up just before the halftime whistle. The Warriors turned the ball over and Hannah Hawk beat McKenna Morey on a breakaway to knot things up at 1-1.

But the Warriors came out a different team in the second half, residing in the Knights side of the field for the majority of the second half. They fired 20 shots in the second half with nine on target.

Sibley found the back of the net in the 50th minute thanks to an outstanding pass from Tana Wynia, who launched a ball from midfield behind the defense where Sibley tracked it down and deposited the ball into the back of the net for a 2-1 advantage.

In the 67th minute, Sibley curled a right-footed blast from just outside the box and into the top left corner for a 3-1 lead. It also marked the end of her day as she was subbed out shortly thereafter.

But the Warriors offense pressed on as Ruiz made it 4-1 after a turnover in the Knights' box found its way onto her foot and she easily beat goalkeeper Kassie Esquivel for her second goal of the year.

Mahon and Marin would cap the scoring as the Warriors scored three times inside of seven minutes to put the match away.

The Warriors will have one week off now as they return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 12 against Moorpark with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
