Sibley’s Hattrick Leads Warriors Past Santa Monica

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors defeated the Santa Monica College Corsairs 3-2 late on Friday afternoon after a hattrick by Allison Sibley.

Sibley scored the game winner in the 89th minute of play to secure victory for the Warriors.  After a collusion in the Santa Monica box between the Corsairs goalkeeper and a defender, Sibley took advantage of the ball being unattended to and dribbled around the remaining Santa Monica defender and slid it into the net for the game-winning goal.  She also opened the scoring in the game in the 10th minute and scored again in the 53rd minute.

The Corsairs outshot El Camino 15-6 with 7 shots on goal and 4 shots on goal for the Warriors. 

The Warriors took an early lead after Sibley scored in the 10th minute on an assist by Claire Mahon.

 Santa Monica answered back after Lia Agapitos scored from outside the box in the 15th minute.

The Warriors scored seven minutes after the restart to take a 2-1 lead.  Tana Wynia crossed the ball over to Allison Sibley who scored her second goal of the game. 

Santa Monica once again found an equalizer a couple minutes later through Bella Velazco with an assist from Vashti Zuniga.

El Camino was forced to make a goalkeeper substitution with 12 minutes to go as Nevaeh Johnson was called in to close out the game.

Santa Monica outshot the Warriors 6-to-1 after the equalizer but it was Allison Sibley who provided the heroics with the late winner on her seventh goal of the season.  

Sibley has scored multiple goals in all three games so far this season.  

McKenna Morey started in goal and made three saves in 71 minutes of work.  Nevaeh Johnson made two saves in 19 minutes of work.

The Warriors will look to continue their three-game  winning streak to start the season when they take on San Diego City College next Tuesday, September 5th.  Kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
