Sibley Scores Twice as Warriors Open Season with Road Win

VALLEY GLEN, Calif. --- Sophomore Alison Sibley helped El Camino College kick off the 2023 season on the right note as she score two goals in the Warriors' 3-1 victory over L.A. Valley on Friday afternoon at L.A. Valley College in Valley Glen, Calif.

Sibley, the Warriors' leading scorer in 2022, picked up right where she left off as she scored the game-winning goal along with an insurance goal for the Warriors in their season opening win against the Monarchs.

Freshman Ashley Ruiz made her ECC debut a good one as she scored a goal and added an assist in the victory. Claire Mahon and Alexi Anaya each recorded assists for the Warriors on Friday.

The team fell behind early as the Monarchs opened the scoring in the first minute, but the Warriors bounced back with the equalizer from Ruiz in the 15^th minute. The teams stayed tied at halftime but Sibley put the Warriors up for good in the 51^st minute and then she added insurance in the 67^th minute to lead the Warriors to the win.

McKenna Morey recorded the win in net as she played all 90 minutes and recorded four saves in the victory.

The Warriors will return to action on Tuesday afternoon as they host West L.A. in their 2023 home opener at the ECC Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
