TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College made its home debut on Tuesday afternoon but could not find the back of the net in a 1-0 non-conference loss to Fullerton at the ECC Soccer Field.
The Warriors (4-2-1) had their three-match unbeaten streak snapped by the Hornets (1-4), who were winless coming into Tuesday's match.
Each team fired 14 shots on the day with five on target but Hornets goalkeeper outdueled Warriors net-minder Karlee Clark by stopping every shot. Clark made a number of key saves herself, finishing with four but the Hornets were able to beat her once and that was enough.
The Hornets broke through in the 74th minute on a give-and-go between Auburn Burnett and Ashley Bautista. Burnett dropped the ball off at the top of the 18-yard box and then knifed through the Warriors' back line and received a perfect pass to the top of the six-yard box. Burnett then kicked it past a charging Clark for the first and only goal of the match.
The Warriors will look to regroup on Friday as they welcome Golden West to the ECC Soccer Field for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
