Womens Soccer Shut Out at Home by Cerritos

TORRANCE, Calif. - The defense for El Camino held out strong for the first 18 minutes of the game before Cerritos found the breakthrough goal to start a 5-0 rout at the ECC Soccer Field on Friday afternoon.

The Warriors (4-6, 2-2) only mustered one shot compared to Cerritos (10-0, 3-0) 41 shots.  

Joelle Niimi was great in goal for the Warriors and made 10 saves in the game.  Niimi made 5 saves including a great double save at a point blank range in the first 12 minutes of the game.

Cerritos scored their first goal of the game in the 19th minute off what El Camino thought was a foul on Niimi inside the box.  Cerritos had a header to a wide open Serena Camacho who put the ball into the open net to make it 1-0

Sydney Carr made it 2-0 after a cross from Gabriela Jimenez in the 29th minute.  She added her second goal of the game to make it 3-0 right before halftime after one-timing a shot on a cross from the 30 yard line.  

Cerritos added two more goals in the second half to complete the 5-0 rout. Camacho scored her second goal of the game in the 50th minute after chipping the keeper from outside the box.  Valeria Corrilo scored the 5th goal of the game for Cerritos after scoring on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute.

The Warriors next game is on Tuesday, October 9th at MiraCosta.   It's a rescheduled game and kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
