Simones Tallies Two Goals to Pace El Camino to 4-1 Victory Over La Harbor

TORRANCE, Calif. - El Camino College pushed their season-high win streak to three games on Tuesday afternoon at the ECC Soccer Field as the Warriors defeated the Seahawks of LA Harbor by a score of 4-1.

The Warriors (5-6-1, 2-2) would once again dominate on offense for a second game in a row.  ECC had 30 total shots, 15 in each half with 17 total shots on goal. Giselle Magdaleno was forced to come up with 13 saves for the LA Harbor Seahawks (1-9-1, 1-3).

Monica Bernardino notched her third goal in three consecutive games to open the scoring for the Warriors in the sixth minute.  Kathryn Wilson sent a through-ball to Bernardino, who put it past the LA Harbor goalkeeper.

Maddy Simones added another goal before the half for ECC in the 32nd minute.  She scored with a shot from the top of the 18-yard box.  Simones would later add her second goal of the game and team leading fifth goal of the season in the 48th minute.  Robin Riggs set Simones up with a through-ball and Simones slotted it past the Seahawks goalkeeper.

Lauren Mayeda would peg one back for the Seahawks in the 60th minute, when her chipped shot went over Kelly Gallagher's hands into the net.

The Warriors would respond nearly ten minutes later when Simones was fouled inside the box.  Carolyn Medina stepped up to take the penalty kick and shot it past the keeper to score her first goal of the season to make it a 4-1 game.

The action was heated in the second half as four players were issued yellow cards in the last twenty minutes of action.

Isabel Rojas (5-3) started the game in net for the Warriors and only had to make one save.   Kelly Gallagher played the second half for the Warriors.

El Camino will return to action on the road on Friday, October 13th against Pasadena City College.
