Warriors Dominate Santa Ana 3-0 at Home

TORRANCE, Calif - El Camino College smashed Santa Ana College 3-0 on a Friday afternoon contest at Murdock Stadium.
The Warriors quickly got over their two game losing streak early in the game vs the Dons. Robin Riggs scored quickly for the Warriors in the 6th minute of the game. She dribbled throughout the Santa Ana defense from the half line and shot the ball underneath the keeper for her 2nd goal of the season.
It wouldn't take long for the Warriors to strike again in the first half. After displaying a beautiful display of possession involving many passes in the Dons half of the field, Taylor Herm received the ball at the top of the box and passed it to Kathryn Wilson on her left side. Wilson then crossed the ball to Maddy Simones who's snap header went off the right post into the goal to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead in 12th minute.
The Warriors defense held the Dons at bay for most of the 1st half until the final two minutes when Isabel Rojas made two diving stops to keep the Dons scoreless.
After a dominant first half for the Warriors, the Dons were knocking on the door against the El Camino defense to start the second half. Kelly Gallagher was up to the challenge as the Warriors netminder and made five saves in the second half, with most of those saves coming in the opening 20 minutes of the period..
The Warriors would add their third goal of the day in the 74th minute on a quick counter attack. Wilson again was the provider down the left side of the pitch, as her pass found Riggs in the middle of the box. Riggs slotted it past the goalkeeper for her second goal of the day, and her third goal in three games played.
El Camino almost added a fourth goal late in the game as Monica Bernardino found herself with a great opportunity. After a nice move to get past the Santa Ana right back, she found herself 1-v-1 with the goalkeeper, but her shot went just right past the far post.
El Camino will begin conference play next week on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Long Beach.
