Women’s Basketball Earns Four Spots on All-Conference Team

2021-22 All South Coast Conference Team

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College had four players selected to the 2021-22 All South Coast Conference Team, it was announced today.

Brandy Castaneda and Jaden Sanderson were each named to the All-SCC First Team while Piper Takenaka and Gialana Orocio earned All-SCC Second Team nods.

Castaneda played in 25 games for the Warriors and led the team with a 15.3 points per game average. She shot 35 percent from the field and had a 73.7 free-throw percentage. She led the team with 4.7 free throw attempts per game, attempting 118 total for the season. She was tied for the team lead with a 2.4 steals per game average but led the squad with 61 total steals.

Sanderson played in 24 games for the Warriors, starting in all of them. She was third on  the team with a 13.4 ppg average and tied for the team lead with Castaneda with 2.4 steals per game. Sanderson was also the top rebounder on the team with 7.1 boards per game and 171 total rebounds for the season. She was also second on the team with a 2.2 assists per game average, dishing out a total of 53 on the season. Sanderson also led the team in 3-point percentage (31.8).

Takenaka was the team's second leading scorer at 13.6 points a game after playing in 22 games and making 17 starts. She was also second on the team with a 31.7 3-point percentage but led the squad in 3-pointers made (40) and attempted (126). She was also tied for third on the team in rebounds per game (5.8).

Orocio led the Warriors in assists per game (2.3) and total assists (57). Despite being the team's point guard, Orocio led the team with 10 blocked shots on the year and was third on the squad with 34 steals. Her 1.1 assist to turnover ratio was also tops on the Warriors.
