Offense Struggles in Loss to Santa Ana

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College struggled with its shooting all night and fell to Santa Ana, 74-63, Saturday at the ECC Gymnasium in the final game of the ECC Christmas Crossover.

The Warriors (5-7) shot just 25.8 percent, missing 46 shots (16-62) while also missing 16 free throws (27-43) on the night. The team shot just 4-for-15 from beyond the arc.

Jaden Sanderson led the way for ECC with 18 points with four steals and Piper Takenaka posted a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

For the Dons (7-6), Sophia Escalante led the way with 15 points and four players scored in double figures. Dylyn Payne and Nicole Robles each scored 14 with Heather Matthews adding 11.

The reserves were key on Saturday night as the Dons' bench outscored the ECC bench 37-11 on the night.

The Warriors will return to action Wednesday afternoon at the ECC Gymnasium when they host Orange Coast for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
