TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College dropped its third straight home game with a 64-54 non-conference loss to Mount San Jacinto Tuesday night at the ECC Gymnasium.
The Warriors (4-6) saw their two-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday night despite a 20-point effort from Brandy Castaneda. The freshman led all scorers as she shot 8-for-20 from the field and added six rebounds and a team-high four assists.
Jaden Sanderson scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds and Piper Takenaka also scored 12 points for ECC in the loss.
Sandee Heiermann led the Eagles with 17 points and also grabbed nine rebounds with four assists. Shyann Morreo added 16 points with four boards.
The teams were tied 29-29 at halftime but the Eagles jumped out to a 44-35 lead midway through the third. That's when Takenaka caught fire for ECC, drilling three straight 3-pointers in 1:20 of game time to pull the Warriors even.
Unfortunately, that would be the closest the Warriors would get as the Eagles went on a 15-5 scoring run to open up a double-digit advantage and they never looked back.
