Warriors falter late against Citrus

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College women's basketball let the game against Citrus College get away from them on Wednesday night in a 62-47 loss at home. 

The Warriors (2-3) were ahead at halftime and leading with 7:36 left in the third quarter before a 11-1 run by the Fighting Owls (4-1) gave Citrus the lead for the rest of the game.

After closing the gap to make it a 4-point game to finish off the third quarer at 43-39 in favor of Citrus.  The Warriors would start the 4th quarter cold and wouldn't score a basket until almost 5 minutes went by and by then Citrus was able to pull away from the Warriors.  

The Warriors had a shared offensive output with Brandy Castaneda leading the team with 11 points and 4 rebounds. Sarah Downs contributed 9 points, Piper Takenaka had 8 points, and Jaden Sanderson had 8 points as well in the losing effort. Giselle Garcia-Nunez led Citrus with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Citrus shot 44 % (22-for-50) from the field while the Warriors shot 29.7% (19-for-64) from the field.

The Warriors will remain home for their final game of the El Camino College Crossover where they will face Irvine Valley. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM and the game will be played after a neutral game between Rio Hondo and Citrus.
