Warriors Score Big Road Win at Long Beach

El Camino College remained undefeated in conference play with a 62-56 South Coast Conference, South Division win at Long Beach Friday night.

Salihah Bey led the team with 18 points as the Warriors scored their fifth consecutive victory. Ashley Nguyen added 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists with Makenna Peneueta adding nine points and six assists.

For the Vikings, Imani Edmond led all scorers with 19 points on the night to go along with 10 rebounds and five assists. De'Brianna Hampton added 14 points and nine rebounds in a losing effort.

The Warriors led for all but 4:30 of game time on Friday night and led by as many as 11 at one point. Neither team shot the ball well from distance as they combined to go 6-for-38 from beyond the arc.

The Warriors were outrebounded 42-30 for the game but forced 14 turnovers and scored 14 points off the Vikings miscues.

With the win, the Warriors continue to lead the division by one game over second-place Cerritos and opened up a two-game lead on Long Beach. The Warriors will face Compton College on Wednesday night with tipoff set for 7 p.m.
