Miyung Kim earned the 2020 Presidential Scholar for the Fine Arts Division this past spring after accumulating a 3.87 grade-point average.

The El Camino College badminton player appeared in one match for the Warriors during the spring semester before the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

"We are incredibly proud of Miyung and her accomplishments," said Warriors head coach John Britton. "She is a magnificent young woman and it was a pleasure getting to coach her and know her in the short time she was with us."

The Presidential Scholar Program at ECC recognizes outstanding graduates who have earned a 3.7 GPA or higher and will be transferring to a four-year college or university.

Kim said she was "honored and humbled" to earn the 2020 scholarship and was looking forward to pursuing her goals at the next level of her education.

She earned her Associate of Sciences degree at ECC despite English being her third language. It was a feat she attributed to all the people in her life that influenced her and helped provide a great environment at ECC.

Kim is no stranger to awards as she won several for her photographs including honorable mention in the National Associated College Press 2018 Photo of the Year contest.
