Track and Field Kicks Off Season at SCC Opener

LONG BEACH, Calif. --- The El Camino College track and field team opened the 2025 season at the South Coast Conference Opener hosted by Long Beach City College at Veterans Stadium in Long Beach, Calif.

On the men's side, the Warriors finished in eighth place out of 10 participating teams while the women's team placed fifth out of eight teams.

Highlights for the Warriors included:

  • Ty McCormick finished eighth (4:22.03) in the 1500 meters.
  • Curtis Williams (6th, 8.91) and Gunner Perez (7th, 9.25) finished in the top-10 in the 60-meter hurdles.
  • Arianna Hurtado placed seventh (11:54.11) with Elaine Dugmore (9th, 12:11.55) and Ayla Barbosa (10th, 12:28.02) also placing in the top-10 in the 3,000 meters.
  • Aiden Nakai placed seventh (9:07.74) in the 3,000 meters.
  • Tillana Wakefield-Carl tied for first but placed second overall in the pole vault with a mark of 3.20 meters (10 feet, 6 inches). Valentia Amescua placed fourth (2.75m, 9 feet, 0.25 inches).

The Warriors will return to action on Saturday at the Pirate Invitational hosted by Ventura College.
