Track and Field Partakes in LBCC Post Meridiem Invitational

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College gathered a small contingent and competed at the LBCC Post Meridiem Invitational on Friday at Murdock Stadium.

The meet was held on the Warriors' home track due to a power outage at LBCC. The Warriors had a number of solid showings including a handful of victories.

Dylan Bucher unleashed his best mark in the javelin this season, winning the event with a mark of 166 feet, 10 inches. The distance was also the No. 10 mark in the state to date.

Anthony Taylor also recorded a pair of wins on the day, taking down the 110 high hurdles with a time of 13.97, the only runner to run a time under 14 seconds. Teammate Izaak Giacchetto placed second at 14.30. All marks were hand timed.

In the 400 hurdles, Taylor scored the victory with a time of 57.84, the only community college runner to run a time under one minute.

Other impressive results for the Warriors included:

  • Naomi Walker: 2nd place in the hammer throw (130 feet, 7 inches)
  • Ty McCormick: 2nd place in the 3,000m steeplechase (11:03.40)
  • Lotanna Muanagor: 2nd place in the high jump (6 feet, 2 ¾ inches)
  • 4x400 meter relay team (Tamada, Timothy Coleman, Ben Ali-Watkins, Karol Sarpong): 2nd place (3:34.78)
  • Yuto Tamada: 3rd place in the 200m (22.93)
  • Alexis Pitts: 4th place in the 100m (12.44)
  • Brianna Tovar: 4th place in the hammer throw (99 feet, 0 inches)
  • Nathan Albers: 5th place in the shot put (37 feet, 10 inches)
  • Amani Givens: 5th place in the discus (122 feet, 8 inches)
  • Bucher: 5th place in the high jump (5 feet, 10 ¾ inches)

The Warriors will return to action on Saturday at the Mount San Antonio Relays – Community College Division at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
