Track and Field Shines at Cuyamaca Invitational

EL CAJON, Calif. --- El Camino College had an excellent showing at the Cuyamaca Invitational on Friday with three other schools competing as well as some unattached athleties.

The Warriors boasted a number of first-place finishes on both the men's and women's side.

Yuto Tamada took down the most accolades on either side for ECC as he took home first place in the 200m (21.86) and 400m (49.19) while also being a member of the first-place 400m relay team (42.67) and 1600m relay team (3:30.71).

On the women's side, sophomore Naomi Walker continued her solid start in the shot put and the hammer throw, scoring wins in both events. Walker posted a personal record in the hammer throw with a mark of 138 feet, 5 inches and won the shot put with a mark of 30 feet, 9 ¾ inches.

Other winners and podium finishes included:

  • Anthony Taylor: First in the 110 hurdles (14.95) and second in 200m (22.35). Member of both relay teams that finished first.
  • Matthew Irvine: First in the 100m (11.03), Second in the 200m (22.35) and member of both relay teams.
  • Lotanna Muonagor: First in the high jump (6 feet, 2 ¾ inches)
  • Nathan Albers: First in the Shot Put (36 feet, 5 inches) and second in the hammer throw (108 feet, 7 inches)
  • Dylan Bucher: First in the javelin (145 feet, 5 inches) and second in the discus (85 feet)
  • Griffin Esperon: First in the pole vault (10 feet, 6 inches)
  • Alexis Pitts: First in the 100m (12.48)
  • Sequoia Gonzales: First in the 1500m (5:01.44) and second in the 800m (2:30.50)
  • Makayla Moody: First in the long jump (13 feet) and second in the triple jump (29 feet, 7 ½ inches)
  • Ami Jacobson: Second in the 1500m (5:09.23) and 3rd in the 800m (2:36.24)
  • Arianna Hurtado: Second in the 3,000m (11:59.71)
  • Brianna Tovar: Second in the hammer throw (93 feet, 1 inch) and discus (68 feet, 7 inches); third in the shot put (23 feet, 2 ¾ inches).
  • Niara Addo: Second in the shot put (24 feet, 4 ¼ inches) and third in the discus (55 feet, 1 inch).
  • Rickette Graham: Third in the 100m (13.03) and 200m (27.00)

The Warriors will return to action on Saturday at the Ron Kamaka Invitational at 10 a.m.
