Jacobson Advances, Track and Field Nets Plenty of Qualifiers at SoCal Prelims

SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- The El Camino College Track and Field squad traveled to the San Diego Mesa on Friday morning for the 3C2A Southern California Regional Prelims and a number of Warriors qualified for the finals, which will be held May 12 at San Diego Mesa.

Ami Jacobson was the first Warriors athlete to officially qualify for the 3C2A State Championships as she finished fourth in the 10,000m final at San Diego Mesa. She posted a personal best time of 38:58.80, which is now the fifth best time in ECC history.

While Jacobson was the first to qualify, a number of Warriors are in prime position to join her at the state championships, which will be held at Modesto College on May 19 and 20 at Modesto College.

The following Warriors qualified for the finals of their events and will be back at San Diego Mesa for the SoCal Finals on May 12:

  • Lincoln Marschall: 1st Place in 400 IH and overall top qualifier (52.67)
  • Alyssa Matsuzaki: 2nd Overall in 400H (1:04.76) and 6th in 100H (15.00)
  • Anthony Taylor: 110H 2nd Overall (14.58) and 8th in 400 IH (56.52)
  • Men's 4x400 Relay: 2nd Overall (3:15.77; Marschall 47.90 / Xerxes Reamer 49.20 / Taylor 49.6 / Yuto Tamada 48.7)
  • James Neely: 3rd Overall in 800m (1:55.06)
  • Rania Gomaa: 3rd Overall in 800m (2:17.48, season best) and 7th in 1500m (4:53.40, personal best)
  • Lotanna Muonagor: 3rd Overall in High Jump (6 feet, 2 ½ inches)
  • Men's 4x100 Relay (Taylor, Jaylen Allen, Reamer, Marshcall): 3rd Overall (41.26, season best)
  • Izak Giacchetto: 5th Overall in 110HH (14.99)
  • Alexis Pitts: 5th Overall in 100m (12.03)
  • Women's 4x400m Relay: 8th Overall (4:07.97, Matsuzaki 60.9/Gomaa 59.8/Kaile Reavis 63.8/ Jailah Robinson 63.2)
  • Tamada: 9th Overall in 400m (48.98, personal best)
  • Haidee Lopez: 12th place in 10,000m Final (43:11.43)
  • Michael Ihemeje: 12th in Triple Jump Final (44 feet, 1 inch)
  • Makayla Nored: 13th in Hammer Final (118 feet, 11 inches)
  • Nate Albers: 19th in shot put Final (40 feet, 6 inches)

Other Warriors that did not compete on Friday but will be in action on May 12:
