Track and Field Shows Well at Bakersfield Relays
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. --- El Camino College made the trip up north to the Bakersfield Relays hosted by Bakersfield College on Saturday.
The Warriors recorded a numer of wins on both the men's and women's side along with many other excellent showings.
On the men's side, James Neely scored a victory in the 800m with a time of 1:54.98, a mark that currently ranks third in the state.
Anthony Taylor also scored a victory in the 110 High Hurdles with a time of 14.88, almost a half-second better than second-place Vincent Corday of Diablo Valley (15.34). Taylor currently ranks third in the state in the event.
Lotanna Muonagor also secured a first-place showing in the high jump with a mark of 6 feet, 2 inches.
Other solid showings on the men's side included:
- Chinedu Adolf-Anokwute (2nd, Discus; 130 feet, 5 inches)
- Stephen Hansen (2nd, 3,000m Steeplechase; 10:23.84 and 5,000m; 16:32.20)
- Anthony Brooks (2nd, Triple Jump; 43 feet, 4 inches and 3rd, Long Jump, 21 feet, 7 inches)
- Isiah Silva (2nd, Javelin; 147 feet)
- Michael Ihemeje (3rd, Triple Jump; 42 feet, 9 inches)
On the women's side, Alexis Pitts helped lead the way with a first-place finish in the 100m (12.26) while adding a second-place showing in the 200m (25.76). She is currently ranked sixth in the state in the 100m and 11th in the 200m.
Ami Jacobson scored a victory in the 5,000m with a time of 18:36.44 and she currently ranks 11th in the state in the event.
Other notables for the women included:
- Sequoia Gonzales (3rd, 1,500m; 5:05.66 and 800m; 2:30.85)
- Makayla Nored (5th, Hammer Throw; 113 feet and 1 ½ inches, a mark placing her sixth on the ECC All-Time Performer List)
