Warriors Participate at Riverside College Open

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- The El Camino College track and field team traveled to the Riverside City College Open on Friday and recorded a number of top-10 finishes on both the men's and women's side.

On the men's side, Jaylen Allen posted a ninth-place finish (11.04) in a stacked field for the 100-meter dash that saw 44 runners compete in seven separate heats.

Allen fared much better in the 200-meters as he placed third with a time of 21.86.

In the 800-meters, James Neely also nabbed a third-place finish with a time of 1:59.16 while teammate Adrian Sixtos also finished in the top-10 (10th, 2:07.51).

Dominic Britton posted the best finish of the day for any Warriors competitor with a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.88, just a half-second behind winner Joshua Hornsby of Riverside.

In the 400m hurdles, Matthew Irvine (3rd, 57.81) and Kyvontei Campbell (5th, 58.50) posted top-five finishes for the Warriors.

On the women's side, highlights included Julia Ausland finishing fifth in the 200m (26.36), 4th in the 400m (1:07.19).

Mia Hasenmayer placed second in the pole vault as she cleared 9-feet, 0.25 inches (2.75m), finishing only behind Vanessa Rogers of San Diego Mesa.

In other field events, Makayla Nored placed third in the shot put (9.79m; 32-feet,1.5 inches) and in the discus (38.39m; 125-feet, 11 inches).

Yukina Hamachi also recorded a third-place finish in the javelin with a distance of 28.71m (94-feet, 2 inches).

The Warriors will be back in action on Friday at the Saddleback Invitational.
