Warriors Win Nine Events at Pasadena City College Invite

PASADENA, Calif. - The El Camino College Track and Field team competed at the Pasadena City College Invite over the weekend.  The Warriors had competed in a field that included international competition from China and Mexico and their fellow CCCAA teams in Cerritos, San Bernardino Valley, Southwestern, Long Beach, and the hosts Pasadena City.

The men's team won five events and had multiple top three finishes

The Warriors took the two spots up in the 400m hurdles. Chris Pitts came in first place with a time of 58.96 while Femi Boirard came in second with a time of 1:00.17.

The 4 x 400 relay team consisting of Alexander Claessens, Alec Froning, Cory Ricketts, and Chris Pitts came in first place with a time of 3:27.64.

The Warriors swept the top three spots in the pole vault competition.  Patrick Granger came in first place with a mark of 4.27 meters. Patrick Gidaya and Armon Gorgani tied for second place with a mark of 3.97 meters.

Derreck Hawthorne came in first place in the shot put on his final throw with a mark of 13.32 meters. 

The Warriors came in first and second place in the discus finals.  Derreck Hawthorne again came in first place with a mark of 38.24 meters.  Vincent Puelles came in second place with a mark of 32.52 meters.

Cory Ricketts came in second place in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.94.

Michael Yaskowitz came in second place in the 1500 meters run with a time of 4:08.19

The 4 x 100 relay team consisting of Nygel Probherbs, Chris Pitts, Thomas Campis, and Alexander Claessens came in second place with a time of 43.45.

Nygel Probherbs came in second place in the long jump with a mark of 6.62 meters.

Chris Pitts came in third place in the high jump with a mark of 1.75 meters (5'8.75").

The women's team won four events and had multiple top three finishes

The Warriors came in first place in both relay events.  The 4 x 100 relay team (Ashlee Arnold, Brittany Anabenawa-appia, Sierra Stokes, and Aaliyah Graves) finished in 53:49.  The 4 x 400 relay team (Brittany Anabewa-appia, Sophia Abe, Aaliyah Graves, and Sierra Stokes) finished with a time of 4:25.52.

Celestina Craft came in first place in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.45 meters.

Necole Ellis won the discus with a mark of 35.96 meters and came in second place in the shot put with a mark of 9.65 meters.  

Anabella Christen came in second place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:17.40.

Sierra Strokes came in third place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.19. She also came in third place in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:02.57.

Carmen Hernandez came in third place in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:33.34.

Aaliyah Graves came in third place in the long jump with a mark of 5.19 meters.

The Warriors will head back to Cerritos College on Saturday, February 29th for the Cerritos Open.
