Warriors Score Fourteen Wins at Orange Coast College Quad Event

COSTA MESA, Calif. - The El Camino College track and field team had a fantastic first meet using their full squad at the Orange Coast College Quad Meet featuring El Camino, Orange Coast, Cuyamaca, and Palomar College on Thursday.  

The Warriors scored 14 wins in the event with nine wins from the men and five wins from the women.

The men had a dominant day on the track as they had nine wins and multiple top-three finishes on the day.

The Warriors took first and second place in the 800 meter run.  Farooq Tariq came in first place with a time of 2:02.77 and Cory Ricketts came in second place with a time of 2:03.22.

The Warriors took the top-three spots in the 1500m run.  Michael Yaskowitz came in first place with a time of 4:11.99, Farooq Tariq came in second place with a time of 4:14.30, and Jonathan Cruz came in third place with a time of 4:16.09.

Michael Yaskowitz also came in first place in the 3000m run with a time of 9:06.64.

The Warriors came in first and second place in the 400m hurdles.  Chris Pitts came in first place with a time of 55.45 and Femi Boirard came in second place with a time of 58.14.

The 4x400 relay team (Alexander Claessens, Alec Froning, Cory Ricketts, Chris Pitts) came in first place with a time of 3:27.53. 

The Warriors took the top three spots in the high jump with Femi Boirard coming in first place with a mark of 1.80 meters.  Nygel Probherbs tied for second with Chris Pitts with a mark of 1.75 meters.

Patrick Granger tied for first place in the pole with a mark of 4.10 meters.  Patrick Gidaya came in third place with a mark of 3.95 meters

Nygel Probherbs came in first place in the long jump with a mark of 6.56 meters.  

Derreck Hawthorne came in first place in the shot put with a mark of 12.81 meters. Hawthorne also came in third place in the discus toss with a mark of 34.01 meters.

Alec Froning came in third place in the 400 M run with a time of 51:81.

The 4x100 relay team (Thomas Campis, Chris Pitts, Alec Froning, and Nygel Probherbs) came in third place with a time of 44.61.

Christian Goluya came in third place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.05 meters.

Vincent Puelles came in third place in the javelin with a mark of 37.26 meters.

The women's track team also had a great day at the track as they had five wins and multiple top-three finishes as well. 

Sierra Stokes came in first place in the 400m run with a time of 1:01.72.

Celestina Craft came in first place in the high jump with a mark of 1.47 meters.

Aaliyah Graves came in first place in the triple jump with a mark of 10.47 meters.

Necole Ellis came in first place in the shot put and the discus.  She won the shot put with a mark of 9.35 meters and the discus with a mark of 36.73 meters.

Brittany Anabenawa-Appiah came in second place in the 200 meter race with a time of 27.75.

The 4 x 100 relay team (Sierra Stokes, Brittany Anabenawa-Appiah, Samantha Ealy, Aaliyah Graves) came in second place with a time of 4:26.80.

The 4 x 400 relay team ((Brittany Anabenawa-Appiah, Aaliyah Graves, Samantha Ealy, and Sierra Stokes) came in second place as well with a time of 4:26.80. 

Sophia Abe came in second place in the pole vault with a mark of 2.88 meters.

The Warriors came in second and third place in the long jump.  Samantha Ealy came in second with a mark of 4.80 meters and Aaliyah Graves came in third place with a mark of 4.77 meters.

Aaliyah Graves came in third place in the 100m dash with a time of 13.57.

Carmen Hernandez came in first place in the 3000m run with a time of 11:57.70 and she also came in third place in the 1500m run with a time of 5:26.86.

The Warriors will head to Pasadena for the Pasadena College Open for their next meet on Saturday, February 22nd.
