Warriors Head to Bakersfield To Compete in CCCAA State Championships

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.   El Camino College track and field student-athletes head to Bakersfield College to compete in the CCCAA State Championships this weekend.  The Warriors have qualified multiple individuals in several events and have qualified one relay team. The event kicks off on Friday May 18th but most individual events will be ran on Saturday, May 19th.    

Carson Bix qualified for the 5000 meter run after coming in second place at the CCCAA Southern California regional championships with a time of 15:02.92.  Salvador Capetillo of Mt. Sac is the top seed after finishing in a time of 14:46.05, ahead of Bix.

Carson Bix has also qualified for the 1500 meter run after winning the Southern California Regional Championships with a time of 3:57.78.  Bix ran the fastest qualifying time in the state by more than three seconds.

Jasher Foster qualified for the 110 meter hurdles final after winning the Southern California Regional Championships with a time of 14.11.  He ran a faster time than Leonardo Brown of Mt. Sac and Jamal Britt of College of the Sequoias who both posted a time of 14.16.

Both Qwintin Workman and Jasher Foster have qualified for the 400 meter hurdles finals race.  Workman came in second place at the Southern California Regional Championships with a time of 52.46 while Foster came in third place with a time of 53.02.  Dylan Atencio of Mt. Sac is the top seed after winning the Southern California regional championships with a time of 51.19. Quincy Hall (52.39) and Jamal Britt (52.61) of College of the Sequoias are also among the top competitors for this race.

Tate Curran qualified for the pole vault competition after placing second in the Southern California Regional Championships.  He pole vaulted 4.81 meters which qualified him with the second highest mark between the state championships. Christian Mueller of Mt. Sac is the top seed after pole vaulting 4.95 meters at the Southern California regional championships.  

Spencer Coneybeare qualified for the 800 meter run with his time of 1:55.30.  Coneybeare came in fourth place at the CCCAA Southern California Championships, but posted the fifth fastest time overall between the North and South regional championships.

The El Camino 4x400 relay team consisting of Larry Hudson, Richard Hamilton, Dhahran Woods, and Wyatt Davidson came in third place at the regional championships with a time of 3:16.68.  Riverside College (3:11.69) and College of the Sequoias (3:12.95) are the top seeds for the race. Mt. Sac (3:14.35) and American River (3:15.07) are among the top competition for the race as well.  

Tyra Jackson qualified for the women's heptathlon after her fifth place finish at the Southern California Regional Championships.
