Warrior Men Finish Third at CCCAA Southern California Regional Championships
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Warriors continued their fantastic track and field season on Saturday, May 12th at the CCCAA Southern California Regional Championships hosted by Mesa College. The men's team came in third place with 65 points behind Mt. Sac (231.5 points) and Riverside City College (183 points). The Warriors won two individual titles as Jasher Foster won the 110m hurdles and Carson Bix won the 1500m. The Warriors have qualified multiple athletes for next week's CCCAA State Championships hosted by Bakersfield College.
The El Camino College Warriors men's team had two individual title at the So Cal Regional Championships.
Jasher Foster won the 110m hurdles and set a new school record with a time of 14.11. Foster also came in third place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.02.
Carson Bix won the 1500m race with a time of 3:57.78. Bix also came in second place in the 5000m run with a time of 15:02.92.
Qwintin Workman came in second place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.46. He tied the 9th best all-time ECC performance that was set by teammate, Jasher Foster.
Tate Curran overcame a bad case of the flu to come in second place in the pole vault competition. Curran pole vaulted 4.81 meters while the winner from Mt. Sac pole vaulted 4.95 meters.
Spencer Coneybeare ran a personal best time of 1:55.30 in the 800m run and came in fourth place.
Timothy Mates came in seventh place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.21 and came in seventh place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.81.
The 4x400 relay team consisting of Larry Hudson, Richard Hamilton, Dhahran Woods, and Wyatt Davidson came in third place with a time of 3:16.68.
For the women's team, Tyra Jackson continued her fine season by placing fifth in the heptathlon with a score of 3603. In the individual long jump competition, Jackson came in seventh place with a jump of 5.26 meters.
Kyja Free came in eighth place in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.44 meters.
Marie Abe came in tenth place in the pole vault competition by pole vaulting 2.90 meters.
Brianna Harmon ran a personal best time in the 5,000m run and came in eleventh place with a time of 19:12.64.
In the 10,000 meter run, Sarah Simpson came in tenth place with a time of 43:20.04 and Deana Takaoka came in twelfth place with a time of 44:12.55.
The Warriors will send multiple competitors to the CCCAA State Championships that will take place on Friday and Saturday at Bakersfield College.
