Distance Runners Brave the Rain at Occidental Invite

While most of the track and field squad had a bye week, the El Camino College distance runners participated in the Occidental College Distance Carnival on Saturday at Occidental College.

On the men's side, Carson Bix showed well and continued to make his mark on the ECC record books. He placed 15th in the 1500m race with a mark of 14:41.63, which also placed him as the sixth all-time ECC performer. He's also the current No. 3 performer on the CCCAA list this season.

In the other 5 races, Matt Arruda ran 15:44,94 (21st ), Caleb Ko 15:58.30 (33rd), Brandon Martin 16:56.17 (37th), and John Harvey 17:35.40 all participated.

On the women's side, Deanna Takaoka paced the team as she finished with a time of 19:31.39 in her race. Others to participate on Saturday included Sarah Simpson (19:51.65), Brianna Harmon (20:14.01) and Savannah Sehenuk (20:20.78).

The full Warriors track and field squad will be back in action Saturday at the UC Irvine Invitational.
