Women Score Win at Pasadena Invitational, Men Place Second

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. --- The El Camino College swim team competed at the Pasadena Invitational from Thursday through Saturday at the East Los Angeles Swim Stadium at East L.A. College.
The women scored the win at the meet, scoring 664 total points at the meet that featured nine total women's teams. They edged second-place L.A. Valley, which scored 661.5. Ventura placd third with 633.5.
On the men's side, the Warriors placed second overall in the seven-team competiton with 795 total points. Ventura took home the victory with 1,046.5 points while Pasadena placed third with 553 points.
In addition to the team results, the Warriors broke three meet records at the event. On the women's side, Iyanah Samayoa set the new standard in the 100 individual medley (1:00.13) and the 200 breastroke (2:23.14). Ryan Song broke the record in the 100 IM on the men's side with a time of 54.02.
Other highlights from the meet included:
- The men and women both finished second in the 200 freestyle relay with the men (Song, Vincenzo Crivello, Scott Fujiwara, Samuel Orendain) posting a time of 1:33.91 and the women (Samayoa, Victoria Rodriguez, Olivia Mozian, Raina Henty-Dodd) finishing in 1:47.38)
- Mozian scored an impressive win in the 500 free, finishing in 5:32.03, nearly 30 seconds better than the runner up.
- Brayden Sanchez placed fourth in the 500 free with a time of 5:29.01 with Angel Byrne placing fifth in 5:32.84.
- 200IM: Song won the men's event with a time of 1:57.97 while Samayoa won the women's with a time of 2:15.97.
- Henty-Dodd tied for fifth place in the 50 free with a time of 27.58.
- The women's 400 medley relay team (Henty-Dodd, Samayoa, Alyssa Mack, Mozian) placed second with a time of 4:27.29. The men's team (Cooper Josic, Samuel Adams, Joshua Mendez, Cameron Tate) placed fourth with a time of 4:27.81).
- 200 Free: Mozian won the women's event with a time of 2:07.33 while Fujiwara finished second in the men's event with a time of 1:57.56.
- Song scored a win in the 100 fly with a time of 52.79.
- Henty-Dodd won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:33.23 while Yanie Camarador placed fourth (2:43.27).
- 800 Free Relay: The women (Mozian, Mack, Henty-Dodd, Samayoa) placed second with a time of 8:57.41 while the men (Crivello, Sanchez, Song, Fujiwara) also finished second with a time of 7:43.58.
- The 200 medley relay women (Henty-Dodd, Samayoa, Rodriguez, Mozian) placed third with a time of 2:01.15.
- Song won the 400 IM with a time of 4:20.39.
- 1650 Free: Mozian won the women's event with a time of 19:03.87. Brayden Sanchez finished second in the men's event at 19:13.47.
- Henty-Dodd placed second in the 100 free (59.60).
- 200 breast: Samayoa won the women's event with a time of 2:23.14, 23 seconds better than the runner up. Adams placed third in the men's event with a time of 2:36.72.
- Crivello placed second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:13.51 with Byrne placing third (2:15.98).
- 400 free relay: The women (Mozian, Henty-Dodd, Rodriguez, Samayoa) placed second with a time of 4:01.91 while the men (Song, Sanchez, Fujiwara, Crivello) also finished second in 3:23.17.
The Warriors will next compete at the South Coast Conference Championships hosted by ELAC at the same venue beginning on Thursday, April 17.
