Men and Women Sweep Dual Meet against Pasadena, Chaffey

TORRANCE, Calif. --- The El Camino College swim team had a perfect day with wins over Pasadena and Chaffey on both the men's and women's side.

The Warriors' men defeated Pasadena 157-97 and downed Chaffey 146-116 while the women beat Pasadena 154-53 and defeated Chaffey 153-62.

On the men's side, the Warriors took first place in eight events including both the 200 yard medley relay (1:46.47) to start the meet and the 400 yard freestyle relay (3:30.80). Ryan Song, Vincenzo Crivello and Scott Fujiwara were involved in both relays with Samuel Orendain completing the medley team and Brayden Sanchez being the fourth on the freestyle relay team.

On the women's side, the Warriors were even more dominant, placing first in all 13 events including both relays. Raina Henty-Dodd, Olivia Mozian, Victoria Rodriguez and Iyanah Samayoa were the winners in both the 200 medley (2:01.69) and 400 free (3:58.84).

Samayoa also broke her own pool record in the 100 breastroke with a time of 1:07.02. Her previous record was 1:07.74, which she set on Feb. 14, 2024. She currently still holds the ECC record with a time of 1:04.09, which she set at the 3C2A State Championships in 2024.

Individual winners for the Warriors on the day included:

  • Men's and Women's 1000 Free: Sanchez (11:19.91) and Alexis Vasquez (13:47.42)
  • M/W 200 Free: Fujiwara (1:59.07) and Alyssa Mack (2:20.08)
  • W 100 Backstroke: Henty-Dodd (1:09.97)
  • W 100 Breastroke: Samayoa (1:07.02; Pool Record)
  • M 200 butterfly: Song (2:07.52)
  • W 50 Free: Mack (28.78)
  • M/W 100 free: Sanchez (53.69) and Rodriguez (1:02.27)
  • W 200 back: Yanie Camarador (2:47.09)
  • W 200 breast: Henty-Dodd (2:53.63)
  • M/W 500 Free: Song (5:21.93) and Katrina Sanchez (6:30.73)
  • W 100 Fly: Mozian (1:10.52)
  • M/W 200 IM: Crivello (2:13.18) and Samayoa (2:15.26)

The Warriors will return to action for one last meet before the South Coast Conference Championships as they head to the Pasadena Invitational, which is set to take place from April 3-5 at East Los Angeles College.
