Park Breaks Three More Records as Warriors Host Long Beach, Chaffey in Tri-Meet

TORRANCE, Calif. --- Sophomore Mia Park added three more school records to her name on Friday as El Camino College hosted Long Beach and Chaffey in a South Coast Conference Tri-Meet at the ECC Aquatics Center.

Park, who broke the ECC record in the 200 individual medley at last week's Riverside Invitational, became the new record holder in the 1000 freestyle along with the 100 and 200 backstroke.

In the 1000 free, Park obliterated Ida Due's previous record of 10:45.53 set in 2019, breaking the mark by nearly 20 seconds with a time of 10:25.70. She won the event on Friday by more than two minutes and 30 seconds.

Park would next secure the ECC record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.16, breaking Martina Exlerova's old record of 59.50 set in 2014. Her last record came in the 200 backstroke as she finished with a time of 2:08.65 to break Kjahna O's old mark of 2:10.59 set in 2016.

Overall, the Warriors lost to Long Beach by scores of 158.00-99.00 on the women's side and 185.00-90.00 on the men's while the Warriors downed Chaffey 152.00-37.00 (women) and 203.00-30.00 (men).

Along with her individual accomplishments, Park was also a member of the 400 free relay team with Raina Henty-Dodd, Iyanah Samayoa and Diana Nguyen that won the event with a time of 3:48.57, improving their season best and placing themselves at fourth in the ECC All-Time performances in the event.

Samayoa recorded a pair of individual wins herself in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.21) and the 100 free (57.04).

Nguyen also recorded a victory for the Warriors in the 200 free with a time of 2:11.24, more than six seconds better than the next competitor.

On the men's side, Fin Kircher scored a win in the 200 free with a time of 1:47.03, setting a new pool record at the ECC Aquatics Center. He would also add a win in the 50 free with a time of 22.83 and the 500 free with a time of 4:53.73, nearly 30 seconds better than the runner-up.

Justin Rash recorded a victory in the 100 free with a time of 49.15.

The Warriors will continue conference action on Friday when they travel to Cerritos for a dual meet.
