Warriors Swimming Nabs Double Third-Place Finishes at Riverside Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- El Camino College snagged a pair of third-place finishes in the pool this past weekend at the Riverside Invitational.

The two-day event hosted by RCC saw the Warriors take third in the men's and women's competitions while snagging a number of victories.

On the women's side, the Warriors finished third with 457 total points behind winners Orange Coast College (727.5) and hosts Riverside (586.5).

Mia Park made ECC history in the 200 individual medley, taking first place with a time of 2:08.46, a new ECC record. Park's time surpassed the old record of 2:10.16 which was set by Heidi Hannenian back in 1999. The mark is also the top time in the 3C2A this season.

She also won the 400 IM with a time of 4:36.57 which is also the top time in the 3C2A this year and the No. 2 mark all-time in ECC history behind only Ida Due's time of 4:30.49 set in 2019.

Park also won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:29.69 which ranks third all-time in ECC history and is currently the second best time in the 3C2A.

She also added the 500 freestyle (5:04.21) to her individual wins at the RCC Invite along with wins in the 400 medley relay and the 200 free relay with Diana Nguyen, Iyanah Samayoa and Raina Henty-Dodd.

Samayoa won the 1650 freestyle with a time of 18:53.18 which ranks sixth all time in ECC history and currently third in the 3C2A. She went on to also win the 200 backstroke (2:18.00, 8th all-time; 4th in 3C2A).

Nguyen also broke into the ECC record books as her time in the 200 backstroke (2:29.67) slotted in as the 14th best all-time in ECC history.

On the men's side, the Warriors placed third with 476 total points behind first-place Orange Coast (1045) and second-place Golden West (588) in the 11-team field.

Fin Kircher led the way individually with a pair of victories. He won the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.74 and also took down the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:59.19, more than 34 seconds better than the next finisher. His time in the 1650 free was also the 11th best in ECC history and currently ranks third in the 3C2A.

Ryan Song also took home a victory for the Warriors in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:15.52.

The Warriors will return home this week for a South Coast Conference tri-meet against Chaffey and Long Beach.
